Capabilities: Multimedia Projects

The Need For a Project Approach
The very things that make this new technology exciting (i.e., rich multiple media content, powerful functionality, full interactivity), also make it difficult to plan, develop and implement. The benefits far outweigh the difficulties. However, an organization must be adequately prepared to accept the challenge. Special skills are needed to successfully initiate and implement this exciting and valuable technology. In addition, it is essential that an organization apply a project approach to the effort. Without this approach, resources will be wasted, valuable time lost, and the outcome of the implementation may be less than expected.

Options
An organization can assume the project management function themselves or outsource it to a specialist. Both options are viable—the choice is typically based on the unique circumstances and needs of the organization. If several projects are planned, and the organization already has significant technical resources on staff (that are available), then in-house project management may be attractive. On the other hand, if the organization lacks these skills and is not sure of the future frequency of projects, then the out-source option is usually more appropriate.
Sky Media is prepared to help ministries work through these issues, and is able to provide any combination of project services that may be needed. By using a Virtual Team approach, combined with strong project management background, Sky Media is able to support a wide range of interactive multimedia projects.

The Value of Interactive Multimedia
The tangible value of interactive multimedia technology is becoming more evident as new, high quality courseware is integrated into traditional curriculum. Students and teachers alike are able to save time and improve the overall effectiveness of the learning experience. Even traditional classroom settings are improved with this technology. Students can learn basic materials off-line with interactive multimedia technology. This not only prepares them more effectively for the classroom interaction, but also allows the teacher to devote more time in class to advanced topics and to discussion of application. Distance Education programs are also dramatically enhanced with this technology. Using the Internet and real-time video systems, together with interactive multimedia technologies, provides a flexible and effective learning experience for both on-campus and off-campus learners.
